This November, Los Cabos takes center stage as the 2026 World Wide Technology Championship returns to El Cardonal at Diamante, celebrating the tournament’s 20th edition and two decades of PGA TOUR history in Mexico. The Fourth WWT Tournament week runs November 2–8, with championship competition taking place November 5–8. The event will welcome 120 professional golfers to the Tiger Woods-designed course, known for its strategic layout and sweeping Pacific Ocean views.
Home to championship courses designed by golf legends including Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods, Baja California Sur has established itself as one of Mexico’s premier golf destinations. Meet The People Behind Diamante's Championship Golf in Los Cabos
As part of a special collaboration between Christie’s Real Estate Cabo and "Living in Cabo Radio" with Host Enrique Vázquez, Enrique sat down at El Cardonal on October 30, just days before tournament week, with two people at the heart of championship golf in Los Cabos: Ken Jowdy, Founder and CEO of Diamante Cabo San Lucas, and Joe Mazzeo, Tournament Director of the World Wide Technology Championship.
With the course being readied for the world’s best players, they talked about how the tournament found its home in Cabo, what it gives back to the community, and what comes next for Diamante.

Ken Jowdy first came to Cabo in 2003, when the Pacific side was still largely undeveloped. In December 2004, after a drive over the dunes with the land’s longtime owner, he shook hands on the property that would become Diamante. The sand reminded him of the great courses of Scotland and Ireland, so he built the golf first: the Davis Love III-designed Dunes Course, followed by El Cardonal, Tiger Woods’ first golf course design.
“We knew we could create a special golf course if we used the dunes the way they were and kept that natural setting.”
Next is the Legacy Club course, also by Tiger Woods, with five lakes and flowing streams that Jowdy says will be “completely different from anything in Cabo.” And he sees the championship as belonging to the whole region: “I want this to be a Cabo San Lucas event.”
Joe Mazzeo
Tournament Director, WWT Championship
Joe Mazzeo has been part of the tournament since it began in the Riviera Maya in 2007. When it needed a new home in 2023, the choice was simple: “Los Cabos is the best golf destination, not just in Mexico but in all of Latin America.” Diamante kept standing out for its Tiger Woods connection, its people, and how well El Cardonal sets up for a championship.
Over its 20 years, the event has distributed more than $118 million in prize money and more than $4 million to charities across Mexico, including Casa Hogar and The First Tee of Diamante, which brings more than 120 local kids to the game every week. Broadcast to more than 220 countries and territories, it puts Los Cabos in front of the world.
